Store closures LIVE: 13 shops to be axed in January including Co-op and Boots

More than a dozen stores will exit British high streets before the end of January in a new wave of closures.

At least 12 retailers have confirmed the loss of select locations across the UK, including supermarkets, fashion, and homeware retailers.

The latest figures from the Centre for Retail Research found that several factors are to blame for the ongoing retail “crisis”, which has resulted in mass job losses as a result.

It comes as no surprise to many that the pandemic, growth of online retailing, and consumer spending habits are largely at play, along with inflation during 2022 – which saw food prices rise by more than 10 percent.

In the latest wave of retail action, Co-op will join the pharmacy giant, Boots, in axing selected branches over the coming days.
