Stevie Wonder fans' jaws drop after 'craziest ever concert setlist' resurfaces

Fans of the legendary Stevie Wonder were left in awe after a screenshot of his eclectic setlist went viral.

The post that circulated online left fans astonished by the Grammy Winner, who is gearing up for a series of UK performances later this year.

Wonder, the musical genius behind hits such as ‘Isn’t She Lovely,’ ‘Superstition,’ and ‘Living for the City,’ is renowned for his unpredictable live shows.

This particular setlist was no exception, showcasing Wonder’s versatility as he covered John Lennon, Daft Punk, and even paid homage to the supergroup USA for Africa, of which he was a part. His adventurous setlist included a collaboration with pop music maestro Pharrell Williams on several tracks.

A social media post revealed Wonder’s setlist from one concert, prompting one user to comment: “Stevie Wonder has to be the craziest line-up of songs I’ve ever seen at a concert like what were we doing here man.”

The setlist boasted We Are the World, a rendition of USA for Africa’s anthem, followed by a Pharrell Williams-assisted medley featuring Daft Punk’s Get Lucky, Wonder’s own Superstition, and Williams’ chart-topper Happy.

Following Happy was a heartfelt cover of John Lennon’s Imagine, during which Wonder reportedly took the opportunity to honour the late Beatles star. The performance was said to be particularly moving as Wonder noted that Lennon had lived and been tragically killed just blocks away.

The set then circled back with a reprise of Williams’ Happy.

The same individual who shared the setlist remarked: “It’s so funny because the imagine performance was hella emotional he mentioned that John Lennon lived and was murdered just blocks away. Then a minute later he’s like ‘Okay do I’m Happy again’.”

The setlist in question is from a concert in Central Park on September 23, 2017, and it has left some fans stunned, with one person initially thinking it was a list of the artist’s most popular songs rather than a single concert set.

One fan expressed their surprise, saying: “Not even kidding first glance I thought this was like a “top 20 most played songs all time” list or something What do you mean this is a concert line-up that’s insane.”

Some fans were outraged by the setlist, suggesting that hearing the song “Happy” twice would be infuriating. One fan wrote: “If I went to see Stevie Wonder and he played Happy twice instead of pretty much any Stevie Wonder song I would cause an international incident.”

Another fan added: “Happy/Imagine/Happy sandwich is crazy work.”

A third fan wrote: “If I go see Stevie and I have to endure happy I think I’m making it a terrible night for everyone else too.”

Fans have also been perplexed by Wonder’s recent performances, including his most recent full-length show at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles, where he performed covers of Carole King, Jimmie Davis, and Parliament.

The setlist for Wonder’s upcoming UK tour has not been announced yet, but fans are eagerly awaiting the news, especially after he performed a total of 18 covers at his last full-length show.
