Stephen Graham reuniting with surprise co-star for ‘twisted’ thriller after Netflix hit

Stephen Graham’s upcoming must-see project has received a fresh update – though sadly devotees still face quite a lengthy wait ahead.

The celebrated Boiling Point actor’s most recent series Adolescence remains regarded as one of this year’s finest new dramas following its Netflix debut in March.

Penned jointly by Graham and Jack Thorne, the four-episode series shot in continuous takes chronicles a household ripped asunder when 13-year-old Jamie (portrayed by Owen Cooper) faces arrest for murdering his female schoolmate.

Following Adolescence’s swift ascent among Netflix’s most-viewed programmes across nearly 100 nations this year, legions of admirers found themselves keen to discover Graham’s subsequent venture.

The star will shortly grace cinema screens, appearing alongside The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White in the musical biographical film Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, reports the Mirror.

Nevertheless, prior to this potential Academy Award contender reaching theatres in October, his intimate thriller Good Boy is poised to debut at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), slated to occur between 4th-14th September.

Also featuring Andrea Riseborough, who appeared in Matilda the Musical alongside Graham, and MobLand’s Anson Boon, the picture is characterised as a “twisted” tale exploring “freedom and identity”.

Regrettably, Good Boy’s TIFF debut suggests that cinema enthusiasts unable to travel to Toronto this year might need to wait until next year before its public release, as no official wide distribution date has been confirmed.

In this distinctive British thriller, Boon is set to play a 19 year old gang leader named Tommy who coerces his mates into committing violent acts.

Tommy’s world is turned upside down when Graham’s character Chris abducts him and, with the help of his wife Kathryn (portrayed by Riseborough), employs unconventional methods to make him pay for his wrongdoings.

The film is being directed by Polish filmmaker Jan Komasa, with the screenplay penned by Bartek Bartosik and Naqqash Khalid.

For those eagerly awaiting Graham’s next big film role, there are plenty of his projects currently available for streaming, as well as upcoming releases to anticipate.

Those who enjoyed Adolescence should definitely watch the star’s historical boxing drama A Thousand Blows on Disney+, which also stars his co-star Erin Doherty.

Graham is also slated to appear alongside Cillian Murphy in Steven Knight’s much-anticipated Peaky Blinders sequel, The Immortal Man, which is also due to be released on Netflix.

Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix.
