Stark figures show a third of Express readers fear Putin declaring World War 3

In the wake of rising tensions between Russia and NATO, a recent survey conducted among Express.co.uk readers has revealed that a significant portion of respondents, approximately 28 percent, expressed fear over the prospect of Russian President Vladimir Putin declaring World War 3.

The figure translates to nearly one in three readers who are apprehensive about the escalating situation.

The survey, which aimed to gauge public sentiment amid the increasing threat of war, also showed that a majority of respondents, 69 percent, claimed not to be worried about the possibility of an all-out conflict.

However, a notable 3 percent admitted uncertainty, stating they don’t know how to assess the current geopolitical climate.

The survey results come at a time when Russia has issued a chilling warning to the West.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, in a recent statement, asserted that the Kremlin is prepared for a war with NATO. Ryabkov expressed skepticism about the restoration of relations between Russia and NATO, citing continued Western support for Ukraine in the aftermath of Moscow’s aggressive actions.

When questioned by a journalist about the likelihood of a war between the Western military alliance and Russia, Ryabkov placed the responsibility on NATO, stating: “The choice is entirely on the side of NATO. We are ready, as it has already been demonstrated, to defend our national interests with all the means at our disposal.”

The Russian official warned that intruding into Russian interests represents a dangerous path and cautioned against underestimating the consequences.

He said: “The people who continue to test us for strength must believe that there are no limits to their own ‘gambling,’ in a game of raising the stakes. But they may end up among the losers.”
