According to the experts, one easy kitchen item can keep spiders away from your home, and it is easily available in most households. The experts advise placing cinnamon on your windows—either sticks or powderand that will keep the spiders away from your house.
Chris Hutton, storage expert and owner of Adams Selfstore said: “Spiders dislike strong smells, and cinnamon is one of their least favourite. Simply sprinkle ground cinnamon around windows, doors, skirting boards, and other entry points. You can also dust it in corners, under furniture, and near cupboards.”
Cinnamon serves as a surprisingly effective natural spider repellent due to its potent scent and chemical makeup. Spiders use tiny sensory hairs on their legs to detect chemical signals in their environment, which helps them navigate and communicate.
The strong aroma of cinnamon overwhelms these senses, disrupting their ability to function normally and deterring them from entering treated areas.
Beyond its scent, cinnamon oil contains natural compounds that act as irritants to spiders, making spaces infused with it unwelcoming.
What makes cinnamon especially appealing as a repellent is its safety—it’s non-toxic, eco-friendly, and poses no harm to pets or children, unlike many chemical-based sprays.
This makes it a gentle yet effective solution for keeping your home spider-free.
