Soldier 'stabs glamorous girlfriend 24 times and stuffs her dead body in a suitcase'

A young woman was allegedly stabbed 24 times by her boyfriend before being shoved in a suitcase, according to prosecutors.

Isabella Mesa, a 19-year-old Colombian residing in Mexico, had traveled to Medellín to celebrate her partner Sebastian Villegas’s birthday.

However, on Sunday, Sebastian’s mother frantically phoned police revealing that her son, a soldier, had allegedly murdered Isabella in their home.

Without delay, mother and son went to the police station.

There, Sebastian allegedly confessed to the crime, disclosing that Isabella’s lifeless body was concealed in a suitcase at their residence.

The autopsy revealed “eight puncture wounds with a sharp-edged weapon in the cervical region, seven wounds in the left mammary region, three in the left abdomen, and six more in the left forearm, indicating a defensive action.”

Sebastian Villegas has not yet made public statements.

The mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, issued a call for the protection of “our women” and expressed deep sorrow over Isabella’s femicide, which is a crime defined as the killing of a woman because of her gender.

Valeria Medina, Secretary of Women, condemned the act on her social media, urging the denouncement of violence against women, particularly in the context of relationships.

Isabella’s alleged murder marks the 11th reported femicide in Colombia in 2024, the second in the city of Medellín.

Sebastian Villegas, now faces legal proceedings, with the community and authorities grappling with the urgent need to address and prevent such acts of violence against women.
