If you’re a TikTok regular, you’ll undoubtedly recognise the phrase: “Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday.” The slogan has become synonymous with countless amusing viral videos on the platform after it was used in the holiday company’s TV adverts.
Jet2 Holidays used Jess Glynne song ‘Hold My Hand’ as their advertising soundtrack back in 2016, and it’s remained their signature tune ever since.
Alongside the song, Zoe Lister’s distinctive voice can be heard promoting the company’s deals, such as one included on numerous TikTok videos. In it, she decalres: “Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday and right now, you can save £50 per person. That’s £200 off for a family of four.”
Naturally, given the anonymous nature of voiceover work, audiences are typically left wondering about the identity behind these familiar words. This has certainly been true for Zoe, who played Zoe Carpenter in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks from 2006 to 2010.
“When your voiceover’s gone global, but nobody realised what a big deal you are,” Zoe wrote in her own TikTok post. Stood outside a restaurant, the actress playfully highlighted how those surrounding her remained completely unaware of her identity despite her newfound online fame. “The struggle is real when you’re secret icon,” she quipped.
Zoe’s video quickly went viral, racking up an impressive 2.8million views within just four days, despite her relatively modest following of 24,000 TikTok followers.
One viewer suggested: “Honestly please just go to a karaoke bar and sing it with full seriousness until you get to the VO bit and watch everyone go nuts!” Zoe responded: “I might actually do this.”
Another person remarked: “5 years ago you would’ve been on Ellen getting interviewed.” A third added: “”I would wear a shirt saying ‘voice actor for the Jet2 holiday ad’ with zero shame.”
A curious fourth TikTok user mused: “I was literally thinking about the person that did this voiceover and if she knew her commercial has become a TikTok sound staple. Thank you for confirming that you do in fact know.”
Whilst a fifth exclaimed: “As long as you’re getting paid every time that’s being used you should be rolling in money.” To which Zoe responded with a touch of wishful thinking: “Imagine if social media had a royalties scheme. IMAGINE.”
Zoe, whose acting credits also include Midsomer Murders and Staff Room, became more recognisable in her Jet2 role at least following an interview on That’s TV Thames Valley on July 7, which left viewers gobsmacked.
The interview gained further traction when shared to X, with the broadcaster stating: “A Maidenhead woman has become a viral sensation as hundreds of thousands of people use her voice in social media videos. That’s TV spoke with Zoë Lister, the voice of the Jet2 promotion video, advertising package holidays.”
Zoe expressed her delight at the unexpected fame: “It feels so bizarre, but I do love it, because people are sending me videos all the time. I love the creativity. People are just really funny. For the next generation, the generation Z that has made it what it is, it reminds them of days gone by adverts, when they were little.”
One flabbergasted X user penned: “I’m sorry – Zoe Carpenter from Hollyoaks is *the* Jet2 lady! ? Did we all know this?” A second chimed in: “No f***ing way is Zoe Carpenter from Hollyoaks the voiceover of ‘nothing beats a Jet2 holiday’!”.
And a third echoed the surprise, querying: “Zoe from Hollyoaks is the Jet2 holiday queen?”
