The College Football Playoff national championship pits Miami’s veteran trigger man, Carson Beck, against Indiana’s unstoppable Heisman winner, Fernando Mendoza.
Beck’s Hurricanes lean on balance after bullying Ole Miss behind 133 rushing yards from Mark Fletcher Jr., while Indiana just carved up Oregon with ruthless red-zone efficiency.
The 8.5-point spread is being dictated by trust in Mendoza’s mistake-free profile versus Beck’s higher-variance background.

What our Post expert thinks about Miami vs. Indiana
Beck has thrown 11 interceptions in 15 games, a number that stands out sharply next to Mendoza’s six despite nearly identical completion rates.
Indiana’s offense has shown a knockout gear, scoring 38 on Alabama and hanging 56 at Purdue in November.
Fletcher’s 5.4 yards per carry and receiving usage offer Miami some counterpunch, but Indiana’s ability to turn limited possessions into touchdowns is the more tangible edge to consider here.
