A man facing felony charges for files of child sexual abuse material inside his vacation rental property has been released on bail.
His bail had been set to $75,000 based on him facing one felony count for possession of child sex abuse material.
Christian Parmalee Edwards, 44, of Oakhurst not only was in possession of such materials but also secretly recorded guests who rented out his Granite Butte Way property, according to a criminal complaint.
An image of the home shows a two-story mansion with a blue roof. Among those filmed were women and children in the lower level of the house, police alleged.
At lease one child without their clothes on was also filmed, police added. Filming was not done through just hidden cameras but also by attempts to record from outside through window blinds.
A tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged suspected online distribution activity in Oakhurst.
Cops executed a search warrant last month, seizing 30 devices with at least 4,000 files of child sex abuse material.
They also found a “life-like child doll designed for sexual use” with its hands tied as well as newly bought children’s clothes.
“This showcases the escalation in behaviors from viewing digital images to filming to physical behaviors,” said Kart Woertman, a director at the sheriff’s office.
His neighbors want Edwards to stay away, they told ABC30.
“We didn’t even know we were in danger,” said Anthony Polfer, who lives down the street.
Edwards had listed his property as a rental on July 2025, and videos seem to date back to then, officers said.
