If you’ve got a glass shower screen, you’ll know how much of a pain it can be to keep it clean. Every time you shower, you could be leaving water marks behind or letting droplets of shampoo and shower gel create soap scum stains on the glass.
One of the easiest ways to prevent these marks from happening is to give your shower a proper clean every time you use it, but that’s not always practical, as no one wants to scrub away and make themselves sweaty when they’ve just got squeaky clean in the shower.
However, according to one cleaning expert on social media, there is a way to ensure your shower glass sparkles without the need for excessive scrubbing and sweating.
According to a woman named Leanne on Instagram, you just need three common ingredients that you likely already have access to at home, and a spray bottle to put them all in.
The mixture is designed to “break down soap scum” and cut through oils, making your shower glass look “crystal clear” in a matter of minutes.
You will need
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp washing up liquid
Additionally, Leanne said you could add a few drops of essential oil to the mixture to give the cleaning solution a nice scent, but this isn’t needed to help clean your shower.
Method
To fully clean her shower screen, Leanne mixes the ingredients in a spray bottle and spritzes the glass. You can then use a microfibre cloth to wipe down the glass, before using the shower itself to clean away any residual cleaning solution.
Leanne finishes off the cleaning task with a window vacuum that she uses to suck up all the excess moisture, which helps to keep her shower mould-free and sparkling clean.
In the caption, Leanne wrote: “Vinegar’s mild acid breaks down soap scum and mineral buildup, while dish soap cuts through oils and residue that make your shower look cloudy. Together, they create the perfect chemical combo for a crystal-clear shower screen – without harsh cleaners or endless scrubbing.”
She sprays this on her shower glass daily after her shower, which means she barely ever has to give her shower a proper scrub, and the glass is always clean.
However, Leanne warned against spraying the solution on any chrome fittings you might have in your bathroom, as the vinegar could damage the finish over time.
Commenters on the post were blown away by the hack, with some insisting they would be giving it a go themselves.
One person said: “I will have to give this a go!” And another added: “I swear by this too. It works so well.”
