Shower limescale vanished within minutes with 1 item

Looking up while taking a shower was a shock as I witnessed the grimy overload covering the shower head holes. It was time, again, to remove the build up of limescale that had accumulated on the bathroom appliance.

In my cleaning arsenal, already in the cupboard, was an organic acid that naturally occurs in citric fruits. But, instead of turning to lemons to clean my shower head, which can, frankly, be a bit of a mess, I applied citric acid instead. Readily available in shops such as The Range and Wilko, as well as supermarkets, for as little as £1.49, it’s a great cleaning essential.

This game-changing ingredient can be used for many cleaning jobs around the house, such as removing limescale inside a kettle, laundry, cleaning the oven tray, and the shower head.

Following the instructions, all I did was place the shower head into a suitable container – I used a bucket – and put two scoops of citric acid on the appliance.

The next step was to pour a litre of boiling water (from the kettle) onto the kitchen appliance doused in citric acid.

This cleaning combination is left to work its magic for the next 10 minutes, whereby limescale vanishes and grime falls off the shower head.

Once the timer was up, I just quickly scrubbed the shower head with a kitchen scourer (one of my favorite tools).

Then I emptied the water and the shower head looked sparkling new and clean – perfect for another few weeks, I hope.

Having tried white vinegar and lemons on cleaning my shower head in previous cleaning jobs, I must say, citric acid is my personal favourite.

It’s so simple, easy, and does the job, which makes the next cleaning session seem less of a chore.
