Shocking video footage shared online shows a prison inmate viciously attacking and racially abusing a fellow inmate whilst being recorded. The video, originally shared on a private Instagram story, shows a man wearing a black snood covering the lower half of his face as he goes on a racially motivated rant while in HMP Liverpool.
The man claims the attack is a warning to “little immigrants” as well as saying “you’ll get f****d up if you come to Walton prison and start trying to rape our kids”. In the following Instagram story it appears to show the same man launch an attack on a fellow inmate in a prison cell as he hits him repeatedly in the head and body before he falls to the floor. He then proceeds to pick him up gripping his shirt and hair and punch him repeatedly in the head while wearing red gloves.
The victim is heard shouting “no” throughout the disturbing footage. The attacker and person recording then appear to leave the cell.
The prison is an adult male-only prison which holds 1,370 inmates at one time.
Since the attack, which took place around 10.40am on Monday, October 6, Merseyside Police has launched an investigation. The inmate, who is in his 20s, suffered injuries to his face and torso.
He was treated in hospital before being discharged and returned to prison. Police said the people involved have been identified and enquiries are ongoing.
Police also urged people not to share the footage which has been posted online.
A Ministry of Justice spokesperson also said anyone caught using a phone or social media in prison could see additional time added to their sentence, with all social media misuse being investigated by the HM Prisons and Probation Service (HMPPS) Digital Media Investigation Unit.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating a report of an assault at HMP Liverpool on Monday October 6.

“Those involved have been identified and enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
