A man in his twenties was smashed over the head with a spade by his female neighbour as a long-running row exploded into violence. Catherine Lloyd was caught on CCTV attacking her neighbour with the gardening tool in an alley at the back of his home in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
The shocking footage from May 14, 2023 at around 9.30pm showed the 44-year-old approaching her victim, wielding the heavy spade over her shoulder. She then raised it and brought it down over his head as he attempted to fight back. The man was treated in hospital for a cut to his head.
Lloyd was jailed for 10 months after the assault.
The 44-year-old, of no known address, pleaded guilty to inflicting grevious bodily harm without intent.
She was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday, July 31.
Cambridgeshire Police said the neighbours had been embroiled in a dispute for three years before the attack.
It was not clear what the various issues that are said to have contributed to the long-running argument were.
“Catherine Lloyd’s behaviour in this case was completely unacceptable,” DC Lloyd Davis said.
“Irrespective of any ongoing dispute, violence like this is not the answer. I’m pleased the victim can now move on.”
