People across Britain seem to be divided over whether or not Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, previously known as Prince Andrew, should be stripped of his South Atlantic Medal. The King’s brother, who was formally stripped of his royal titles by the monarch last week after scandals surrounding his association with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, received the medal for serving as a helicopter co‑pilot during the Falklands conflict.
In a new YouGov poll, members of the public were asked whether they would support or oppose Andrew losing this medal. Over a third of those asked (36%) said they would either “strongly support” or “somewhat support” such a move, while 43% either “somewhat oppose” or “strongly oppose” it.
Older people, according to the poll of 6212 adults yesterday, seemed to oppose the move to strip Andrew of his medal more than younger people.
