Masters snooker champion Shaun Murphy regrets ever bringing up that he once made a nine-darter, after being the subject of social media backlash over the allegation.
Speaking to GB News, Murphy wishes he hadn’t brought up being the only person ever to make a nine-dart finish, a 147 break in snooker, and a hole-in-one while playing golf.
“I will say we had a lot of fun with it in the build up to the tournament, Paddy Power got involved with it, and we were all over it,” Murphy said. “We had a lot of laughs with it, but the amount of people who were up in arms about it on socials was hilarious, but it was a long time ago.
“I don’t play darts anymore, as recent footage shows, it’s awful these days, and I was never that good, if truth be told. But what can I say? It was a random night in the pub, and it’ll never happen again. Part of me wishes I’d never mentioned anything!”
