Shane Lowry is shaking up his team after a disappointing U.S. Open.

The Irish golfer has parted ways with caddie Darren Reynolds after missing the cut last week at Shinnecock Hills, according to Adam Schupak.

Reynolds had been on Lowry’s bag since early 2023, but the partnership is over as Lowry looks for a reset.

Lowry will have a familiar face alongside him at the Travelers Championship this week.

Dermot Byrne, who caddied for Lowry during the first 10 years of his career, is expected to fill in on a temporary basis while Lowry searches for a permanent replacement.

The move comes at a frustrating point in Lowry’s season.

Lowry, 39, won the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush and owns three PGA Tour victories, but he is still searching for his first win of 2026.

He has two top-10 finishes this season, according to his PGA Tour profile.

The missed cut at Shinnecock was another setback in a major for Lowry, whose best U.S. Open finish remains a tie for second at Oakmont in 2016.

Byrne’s return gives Lowry an experienced and familiar voice as he tries to steady things quickly.

Caddie changes are common in golf, but the timing stands out with Lowry moving on from Reynolds immediately after one of the sport’s biggest events.

Lowry has not announced a full-time replacement.

For now, Byrne will take the bag as Lowry begins his search for a longer-term answer.
