Rams head coach Sean McVay was in great spirits.
After a disastrous season debut in Australia, the Super Bowl favorites bounced back in a big way in Week 2. Monday Night Football featured a dominant Rams’ 28-6 win over the Giants as Aaron Donald made his debut after two years of retirement.
After the win, Sean McVay was in bright spirits. So much so, that even poked fun at one of the coaches, the head coach.
“Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. Sometimes you have a dumbass coach that makes travel plans that put you in a bad spot,” McVay said to conclude his postgame presser.
The Rams and 49ers took vastly different approaches to the season opener in Australia. San Francisco opted to arrive a week before the showdown, while the Rams arrived just over 24 hours before the game.
The 49ers handed the Rams a 27-7 beatdown in Week 1 and the ongoing narrative following the shocking loss for the Super Bowl favorites was their controversial travel plans. On Monday, the Rams hit the reset button and secured a dominant win over the Giants.
McVay was evidently able to keep the presser lighthearted.
There’s no telling if the outcome of the Week 2 matchup would have changed given the absence of Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, who sustained a knee injury on the first drive of the game.
Regardless, Davante Adams scored two touchdowns and tallied 195 yards on eight receptions to give the Rams offense a roaring comeback after Australia’s disaster.
