Sarah Ferguson 'in talks with ITV' for huge TV return after This Morning stint

Sarah Ferguson is reportedly in talks with ITV for an exciting return to TV, following her brief stint hosting This Morning.

The Duchess of York, affectionately known as Fergie, stepped in as a host for the ITV morning show in November after Holly Willoughby left but received mixed reviews from fans.

Rumours at the time claimed she was in the running to get a permanent space on the show, but a source close to the Duchess has said this was never the case but she could return soon.

The source said: “The Duchess’s writing career and charity work wouldn’t allow her to be a full-time TV host and this was never envisaged by either side.

“But she’s talking to ITV about a return to both This Morning and Loose Women soon, and has been told she’s welcome any time.”

There is reportedly an open invitation for her to return to both This Morning and Loose Women, and she is likely to do so next month.

One ITV source, though, has said that Sarah had “zero chance” of landing a permanent role on This Morning, but that she was a “joy to have around the place”.

Sarah Ferguson opened a special episode of This Morning in November by saying: “I am Sarah, the Duchess of York, and I have appeared on this show many times. As an enormous fan of the show I have always enjoyed myself here.

“Today though, I am joining the family as co-host brackets fluff, alongside Alison and Dermot.

“And as guest editor for the day, I have been working with the brilliant team behind the scenes to bring you some of the topics I am most passionate about.”

Viewers took to social media to express their fury about her appearance. One user (@flopsypickle) said: “Fergie on This Morning, totally sums up how utterly pathetic the show has become.”

Another (@carolinefoulis) added: “ITV has lost the plot. Massive switch off!! #thismorning.”

Though not all were against her as a host. One (@RKiernan) said: “I forgot how funny Fergie is #thismorning.” Another said: “Fergie! #thismorning,” alongside a grinning and thumbs-up emoji.
