Sara Cox says she'll 'never be invited' to meet Princess Kate again after awkward exchange

Christmas is a great time to think of others, and if you’re undertaking any charity work during the festive season, there’s every chance you may bump into a royal or two.

This was certainly the case for BBC Radio 2 host Sara Cox, who told of her run in with Princess Kate, during a hostel visit where Cox was helping out.

The radio host gushed about meeting Kate on her show this week, where she told listeners a funny anecdote about how she was unsure what to say to the Princess of Wales.

“I was at Centrepoint at the homeless charity and I was there for this special day where William and Kate were coming looking around”, she said. “He’s the patron of the charity.”

“He’d come to look around at this hostel and all the young people there, and I got to meet Kate for the first time, one and only time.”

‌She continued: “We were chatting and it was nearly Christmas, and I just panicked, I didn’t know what to chat about because I thought to myself she’s gonna be queen one day‌.”

“So I asked her if she was excited – I asked her if she would be cooking.. Probably not.‌”

“I think she was going to the Queen’s that year – Then I’d told her I made that gravy, and I’ve never met her since.”

The radio host joked that she thinks the awkward encounter was why she’s never been invited to meet with the royal again.

Cox told listeners the hilariously awkward story on her Sara Cox show on Radio 2 on Tuesday – as the royals have been continuing their Christmas charitable efforts.

Last week, Prince William was spotted at The Passage charity to help serve Christmas lunch to people supported by the homeless charity – William first visited the charity back in 1993, with his brother Prince Harry and the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Meanwhile, Princess Kate and her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were also spotted wrapping presents for less fortunate children at the Windsor Baby Bank, a charity that the Princess of Wales has been incredibly involved in throughout the years.

Footage captured the royal children in high spirits as they wrapped up gift packages and left special messages for other children who would receive them, while Princess Kate showed an arm of support as she encouraged her youngsters and explained why their work was important.

The festive period has gone smoothly for the Waleses, who already sent social media into overdrive earlier this month, following the release of their Christmas card, which had royal onlookers swooning at the sweet image.
