SEATTLE — It was a surreal scene taking place in the home team interview room Saturday night in the bowels of Lumen Field.
The Seahawks had just dismantled the 49ers 41-6 in an NFC divisional round game. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold stood at the podium answering questions about winning his first career playoff game and how he’d led Seattle to the NFC Championship game, one win away from a Super Bowl berth.
While Darnold answered questions, sitting in the front row of the room was defensive end Leonard Williams, who was due up next to the podium.
The two players were teammates on the Jets in 2018 and ’19 during dark times around a franchise that hasn’t found any light since both departed the team.
