Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat…but our wallet is getting rapidly lighter.
Fortunately, Sainsbury’s has stepped in and announced Christmas food and drink offers with festive staples from just 15p each – as well as £3 per kg turkeys.
In store and online, Sainsbury’s is offering various Christmas dinner essentials for the bargain price, but has warned customers that the offers will only be available for seven days.
Sainsbury’s will sell brussels sprouts, carrots, parsnips, white potatoes, swede, white cabbages and red cabbages for just 15p each if you have a Nectar card.
The supermarket will also sell turkeys for just £3 per kg for a 2-4 kg bird.
It means Sainsbury’s shoppers will be able to grab an entire Christmas dinner for just £9.30, according to the supermarket’s own figures.
But the cheap veg is available for just seven days, from Wednesday, December 18 to Tuesday, December 24, aka Christmas Eve.
The turkey offers will run from Thursday, December 19 until Boxing Day.
A Sainsbury’s spokesman said: “With the big day just around the corner, Sainsbury’s is helping customers make the most of the hosting season with tree-mendous savings, yule not want to miss across Christmas essentials with Nectar Prices.
“Sainsbury’s customers can impress guests this season and enjoy big savings on delicious meat centrepieces including 25% off by Sainsbury’s Fresh Standard Turkeys, now £3/kg with Nectar, available in Sainsbury’s superstores and online from Thursday 19th December until Thursday 26th December.
“Sainsbury’s customers can also get their hands on festive veg for just 15p with Nectar Prices including, by Sainsbury’s Brussels Sprouts, by Sainsbury’s Parsnips and by Sainsbury’s White Potatoes – the perfect sides to the main showstopper, available from Wednesday 18th December until Tuesday 24th December.
“Make your budget go far-la-la-la-la this Christmas by taking advantage of the great savings with Nectar prices. Sainsbury’s shoppers can buy a small turkey and all essential veg for just £9.30*, leaving plenty left over for other festive essentials!”
The supermarket added: “For those looking for an alternative to turkey, there are great savings to be had on centrepieces including 50% off by Sainsbury’s Scottish Whole Salmon, £7.50p/kg with Nectar (£15p/kg without Nectar, available from Wednesday 18th December until Tuesday 31st December.”
