Russian millionaire and wife feared dead in plane crash – but pilot and crew found alive


A Russian millionaire and his wife are feared to have been killed in a plane crash in Afghanistan, after the aircraft they were on careered into a mountain.

Anatoly Evsyukov and Anna Evsyukova were both the flight and are yet to be accounted for. The plane’s pilot and crew survived the horrific incident.

Anna had fallen ill while on holiday in Thailand and was being flown home on a chartered flight for treatment.

After the aircraft disappeared from flight radar, Taliban officials said two people had been killed. Although the two dead have not been indentified, it is feared that its Anatoly and Anna that succumbed.

Anna fell seriously ill whilst in Thailand and required ventilator treatment. The millionaire chartered a flight for his wife from Pattaya in the east Asian country to Moscow.

The craft is reported to have left Thailand on Sunday and refuelled in India.

The pilots reported issues with the fuel levels and engine at around 7.30pm local time, before the plane disappeared from the flight radar.

A statement from the Taliban’s Transportation and Civil Aviation Ministry said: “The pilot was found by the search team of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. According to the pilot, four people including the pilot are alive.

“The search and assistance of the Islamic Emirate investigation team for the remaining survivors is ongoing.” However, there has been no independent confirmation of the Taliban’s statement.

According to Russian officials the plane belongs to Athletic Group as well as a private individual. It was said to have been constructed in 1978.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Anatoly had been the Technical Director of a firm called DGC, based in the Russian capital.

Ukrainian-American journalist Igor Sushko took to X to claim that the crash took place after “both engines failed” on the plane and that the four surviving people onboard were Dmitry Belyakov, Arkady Grachev, Igor Syvorotkin, Pavel Popov. His reports are so far unconfirmed.
