Russian election: Vladimir Putin support revealed in exit polls after huge protests


Vladimir Putin will win the Russian election by a landslide, according to exit polls.

The data being reported by Russian media suggests the current president will receive an enormous 87 percent of the votes.

This is despite huge protests since the three-day voting process commenced on Friday, including citizens setting fire to ballot boxes and using ink to spoil stations.

The Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) study places Nikolai Kharitonov, from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, in second place with 4.6 percent of the vote.
