Russia has stopped using a pivotal supply route after repeated Ukrainian attacks rendered the Crimean Bridge unviable, Kyiv has claimed.
The Russian Army heavily relied on the four-lane road and double-track train lane to resupply forces engaged in the war in Ukraine with weapons and ammunition.
Ukraine has carried out multiple strikes on the bridge, which was built to connect Crimea to Russia’s Tamar Peninsula following the 2014 annexation – thus disrupting the flow of weapons.
The head of Ukraine’s SBU security service, Vasyl Maliuk, told the news agency Interfax-Ukraine they expect Moscow to attempt resuming weapons deliveries via the bridge but they will first need to ensure it is structurally secure.
Maliuk said: “Before our successful strikes [on the bridge], daily traffic ranged from 42 to 46 trains carrying weapons and ammunition.
