Rasmus Hojlund has reportedly been axed from the Manchester United squad for their game with Arsenal. Ruben Amorim’s side open their Premier League campaign at Old Trafford today, with a 4.30pm kick-off against the Gunners.
Hojlund, 22, has been linked with a move away this summer. The arrivals of Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo have cast further doubt over his future, with the Dane having struggled for form since his £72million move from Atalanta two years ago. Now, he appears to have been sent a message that he has no future at the club.
Rasmus Hojlund will be left out of Manchester United’s squad list to face Arsenal. The player himself wants to stay but he has been told that he will face a challenge when it comes to getting minutes.
According to The Touchline, Hojlund will play no part in today’s match. He’s said to have expressed a desire to stay at Utd and fight for his place, despite being told he’s likely to struggle for game time.
Hojlund, 22, has played 95 times for the club in the past two seasons, scoring 26 times. Just 14 of those goals have come in the Premier League though, and AC Milan have opener talks with United over a potential deal.
The development appears a clear indicator that Sesko will make his debut this afternoon. The 22-year-old only arrived from RB Leipzig last week in a transfer worth up to £73.7million, having also been targeted by Newcastle.
