Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of “trading off” their former royal titles to help them earn money for their new “elitist” lifestyle.
In a new German documentary named Harry: The Lost Prince, the couple are criticised for their actions since leaving life as senior working members of the Royal Family in 2020 and moving across the pond to Montecito, where they have continued to use their titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The couple have also been accused of hypocrisy through their actions, including on their tour to Colombia this year.
One reporter Russel Myers said on the show: “If you’re going to places like Nigeria, like Colombia, which have huge socio-economic problems, some of the world’s poorest communities in these countries, and you’re turning up wearing tens of thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes – it really doesn’t send the right message.”
Jack Royston from the podcast The Royal Report then commented on their unreasonable demand from the monarchy to be half in and half out, something the late Queen refused to allow them to do. He said: “If you have a situation where Harry and Meghan are earning huge amounts of money in Hollywood trading off their reputations, but then they’re also bolstering their reputations by working for the Queen – they’re able to present themselves on the world stage as being these working members of the royal family who are also available for a price.
“That is a huge compromise to demand off the monarchy. They should never be using the monarchy as a platform.”
