Netflix boss Ted Sarandos has given his two-word verdict on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during a rare interview with Variety. Shortly after stepping down from royal duties and moving to the US, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the decision to sign a lucrative deal with Netflix.
The couple have since released a few projects, with some being the main focus of either Meghan or Harry. Their joint docuseries, Harry & Meghan, was released in December 2022. Just weeks before the release of With Love, Meghan, Harry released his most recent project in the form of Polo, which saw players of the sport in preparation for the US open.
Speaking the publication, Ted described the couple as “overly dismissed” as he shared his thoughts on Meghan’s new show – which aired on the streaming service earlier this month. Asked if Meghan was the “right person to bet on”, he said: “I think Meghan is underestimated in terms of her influence on culture. When we dropped the trailer for the “Harry & Meghan” doc series [in 2022], everything on-screen was dissected in the press for days. The shoes she was wearing sold out all over the world. The Hermès blanket that was on the chair behind her sold out everywhere in the world.” He concluded, “People are fascinated with Meghan Markle. She and Harry are overly dismissed.”
