A royal has announced he is engaged just six months after his divorce from his first wife was completed. Crown Prince Leka II, who is the head of the House of Zog – the family who once ruled Albania – shared the happy news over the weekend after proposing to Blerta Celibashi.
This may come as a surprise for some as Leka only divorced Crown Princess Elia earlier this year after the pair ended their eight-year marriage last year. They share a daughter, Geraldine, together.
On the Crown prince’s official social media account on Sunday, the Albanian Royal Court said that Leka and Blerta celebrated their engagement on October 11.
The statement read: “The Royal Family is pleased to announce the engagement of His Majesty, Crown Prince Leka II of Albanians and Miss Blerta Celibashi.
“The engagement was joyfully celebrated on October 11, 2025, in Ksamil, in the south of Albania, in the presence of family and close friends.
“The Royal Family shares its happiness with the Albanian people and expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all those who have sent their good wishes on this joyous occasion.”
A date for the wedding has not yet been set.
The engagement news comes about a year after the prince first went public with his now fiancee in September 2024.
The couple carried out their first official engagement together just a month ago.
