While most brides look back to their wedding day with nothing but happy memories, this is not the case for one royal bride. Sophie Winkleman, 44, married into the Royal Family in 2009 when she exchanged vows with Lord Frederick Windsor – the son of the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
The Peep Show actress married Lord Frederick at Hampton Court Palace, with the big day having all the necessary components to make it the perfect day. However, it seems that not everything about the day was picture-perfect for Lady Frederick Windsor.
On The Daily T podcast, Sophie said that she wasn’t as hands-on as most brides in the wedding planning process as she had a new acting job in Los Angeles, meaning that her final bridal look was not exactly what she hoped it would be.
Speaking on the podcast, Sophie said the hairstyle was so “disgusting” that her husband still gets upset about it over a decade later.
She said: “Freddie still gets upset about it (the hairstyle). It was just disgusting.”
This is not the first time the royal has spoken about this. She also once told Tatler: “I was so determined not to be a bridezilla, I didn’t even work out my hairstyle and I cannot tell you how disgusting it looked.
“Coming up the aisle, the first thing I said when I saw Freddie was, ‘I’m so sorry about the hair.’ He said, ‘Yes, what on earth have you done?’”
While the hairstyle may not be a fond memory for the couple, the overall wedding is, with the pair still happily married 15 years later.
Since their 2009 wedding, the couple have welcomed their two daughters Maud, 11, and Isabella, nine, into the world.
They were last seen attending a royal event together in December, arriving at Buckingham Palace for a Christmas Lunch hosted by King Charles, just six days before Christmas Day.
