Revive droopy and sad-looking peace lilies with easy 10-minute trick that ‘always works’

Peace lilies, with their lush, dark green leaves and elegant white blooms, are a favourite choice among houseplant enthusiasts.

They add a touch of natural beauty to your home and are known for their air-purifying qualities.

However, if you’ve noticed that your peace lily’s leaves are drooping, it can cause concern.

Don’t worry though, as gardening enthusiasts have shared how to remedy this after one woman took to the Peace Lily Families Facebook page asking for advice on her houseplant.

Posting pictures of her drooping peace lily, Kim Sanderson asked: “Why are the leaves drooping and not standing back up?

“I water it and they still don’t spring back up. I was wondering if it needed to be cut back. I do have a big loose rubber band around it to help take some weight off.”

Group members in the comments claimed that this had happened to their peace lilies too and all suggested the same fix – to leave the plant soaking in water.

Lacresha Joy said: “That’s what mine looks like when it needs more water. I have to leave mine soaking in water two to three times a week or she sags.”

Olivia Accarino wrote: “You just have to water it. I have the same plant and when I first got it I couldn’t understand why the leaves were dropping so much.

“Peace lilies require a lot of water so water it heavily. It always works.”

Bobbi Hudson suggested: “Try sitting it in a bathtub of water to give a big drink soaking up from the bottom.”

After reading the suggestions, Kim took on the advice to soak her peace lily in water and she found it worked excellently.

She said: “Y’all I soaked it down with water at the sink for 10 minutes and it looks 100 percent better. Thank you!”

Kim also shared a picture of how her peace lily looked before and after soaking it in water and the leaves looked perky.

In response to her comment, Krys Marin shared a picture of her drooping peace lily and asked how to soak it in water.

Kim replied: “I would change your plant into a pot with drain holes. My pot has drain holes.

“I just sat my plant on my counter beside my sink and sprayed water into it, soaked it really good until the water started draining out the holes. Make sure to drain the excess water out. It perked right up shortly afterwards.”
