Research shows an average worker gets bored after 3 years in a role

The average worker gets bored after three years in a role, research claims.

A study found more than half said it starts when they felt anxious on Sunday nights (51%) or don’t get on with the boss (32%).

And 31% think a lack of sleep owing to stress is a sign to start looking elsewhere.

As a result, three in 10 of the 2,000 polled were thinking about moving occupations after four-and-a-half years.

Of those who are thinking about changing jobs, 38% want a higher salary while 24% feel there is no further career progression available.

Carrie Westwell, of Bensons for Beds, which commissioned the research, said: “After a while, it’s understandable professionals will crave new opportunities to fulfil their needs.

“The new year is a great time to think about your career, but everyone else will probably be thinking the same – so competition will be fierce.”
