Remove oven glass stains in 10 minutes with cleaner's ‘best’ solution that costs 5p

Oven cleaning is not a job that’s often at the top of to-do lists, but it’s one of the places in kitchens that can get greasy and grimy very quickly – particularly the glass.

From leaky pasta bakes to stew splatters and more, it’s easy to see why it can get so grubby.

To achieve the perfect clean glass oven door, Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Fabio group member asked what products they should use.

Posting a picture of her oven glass door covered in brown stains, Rhianwen Stone said: “Keen on getting this clean. What products should I use?”

From suggestions of Oven Pride to Elbow Grease and the Pink Stuff paste, using a dishwasher tablet seemed to be the most popular – even a cleaning expert recommended this.

Lauren Kemp said: “Use a dishwasher tablet on the glass with hot water I did this and it came up like new. Wear rubber gloves though.”

Posting a photo of her oven door glass looking spotless, Lauren said: “My door looked like yours, it took like 10 minutes to get like this.”

Explaining how she uses a dishwasher tablet to clean the glass, She said: “I dip it in so it’s wet, then I rub it about and it kind of dissolves and I add more water but just a little bit so it makes like a paste.

“I use like the little rectangle powder ones, not a liquid one. Hope that makes sense. I own a cleaning company and find it the best way.”

When asked for what she uses on the rest of the oven, Lauren said: “I use Mr Muscle in the orange tin spray all over the inside and leave for an hour or so and then I use a scrub daddy and boiling hot water.

“I hate Oven Pride because if you get that on anything, it ruins your floors. It’s good for the oven racks though, to soak in the bag but that’s all I use it.

“If your racks are bad I would soak them overnight in the bag with a towel under it on the draining board next to the sink, or even soak them for a few hours if you can’t do overnight.”

Others also suggested using a dishwasher tablet for the task. Haley Mears said: “Rub a cheap dishwasher tablet in with a drop of water and leave for a bit. Might have to do a couple of times but it works.”

Emma Jane instructed: “Use the hard dishwasher tablets, a little wet on the corner to clean the glass.”

Jenny Smith wrote: “A dishwasher tablet, I did mine last night and couldn’t believe that it actually worked. Looks good as new.”

Annmarie Jones-Gilbert commented: “To get the glass clean, use a dishwasher tablet. I did it and it all came off. Rub it in then wash it, will look like new.”

Any hard dishwasher tablet can be used for this task. You’ll find that it retails for £1.49 from Sainsbury’s for a pack of 30. This works out as 5p per tablet.

A pack of 40 dishwasher tablets can be picked up from Morrisons for a similar price of £1.99.
