Reform UK to switch attack from Tories to target Labour on migrants and economy

Reform UK is set to switch its focus from attacking the Tories to targeting Labour on migrants and the economy.

The party’s leader Richard Tice will outline its strategy at a press conference this Wednesday ahead of a general election almost certain to take place this year.

Mr Tice is expected to insist there is little difference between Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer’s parties.

He will accuse the Labour leader of being “soft” on migration and claim his economic plans would “bankrupt” Britain.

A Reform UK source told The Times: “We feel the Tory party is a smoking wreck in shallow water, there is no point in continuing to target them exclusively. We will target Labour.”

Reform UK has vowed to stand candidates in 632 seats at the next general election, which must take place by January 2025.

The party, which is polling at up to 10 per cent, is understood to be eyeing up 2019 Tory voters who backed Boris Johnson.

Reform UK was previously led by Nigel Farage when it was called the Brexit Party.

The upcoming press conference has fuelled speculation of a political comeback by the ex-Ukip leader.

In November, Mr Tice refused to rule out Mr Farage taking over from his as Reform UK’s leader.

He told Sky News: “The more help Nigel can give, the better.”

Rumours of a sensational return to politics by Mr Farage have been in overdrive since he came third on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

There have also been suggestions he could rejoin the Conservative Party, which he left in 1992, but he has dismissed the prospect under Rishi Sunak’s leadership.
