Reform UK leader Nigel Farage’s meteoric rise in popularity has continued as he received backing from a surprising former political foe who said he could become the next Prime Minister.
Ex-SNP head Nicola Sturgeon told the Financial Times she believed it was no longer “impossible” that Mr Farage could get keys to Number 10.
Reform UK have enjoyed surging popularity in the polls since returning an astonishing six MPs to Parliament in July in the first General Election the party has stood for.
Reform actually won a massive 14.3% of the national vote share, putting them third behind Labour and the Conservatives. The party also came second in a staggering 98 of seats they contested.
Speaking to the Financial Times ahead of tonight’s North West Conference, Ms Sturgeon said Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour government were making “unbelievably terrible” decisions” and that she believed Mr Farage and Reform now stood a chance of taking over. She said: “Five years ago, I would have said it’s impossible. I don’t think that any more.”
Reform UK are holding a “sold out” rally at the Crowne Plaza in Chester today.
