Reddit is down for millions of users worldwide as the social discussion site appears to be suffering its second major outage in as many days.

“We have encountered an error. Please try again later.”, a big red banner said at the top of the homepage when Express.co.uk tried to access Reddit.com.

The website Down Detector showed on Thursday afternoon more than 12,000 reports from the public that Reddit was not working for them. The issues began around 3pm UK time, though Reddit had also seen trouble on Wednesday evening, with the firm confirming problems to media.

A Reddit spokesperson told Tom’s Guide that “there was a bug in a recent update we made, but a fix in place and we’re ramping back up.”

But the problems have started up again this afternoon and users have taken to other media sites such as X to complain.

One X user named Albino said: “I guess Reddit is down. How else am I supposed to waste time looking at cat and guinea pig pictures?”

Whilst another named hmzx added: “Yes. Reddit is down. Second shortage after yesterday’s crash. Unacceptable.”
