Prince Harry made a brief appearance behind-the scenes in Meghan Markle’s latest Instagram video because “he put her on the map”, according to one royal expert.
Although Meghan, 43, found fame as Rachel Zane in US drama Suits, royal expert Hugo Vickers claims that dating Harry, 40, is what made her truly famous.
Aa Meghan geared up to reveal the name of her new lifestyle brand – As Ever – via Instagram, Harry can be heard at the very beginning of the video handing the camera to Meghan and telling her, “it’s recording”.
Despite the fact that Meghan responds with giggles, Mr Vickers claims that there is more to Harry’s “placement”.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I was going to say ‘product placing’, but ‘Meghan placing’, I mean, we watch her because she’s married to Prince Harry. That’s the reason we watch her, and really the only reason, to be quite honest. I rather wonder what will happen if ever the day comes when she doesn’t need him.”
He added: “But that’s all in the future. I’ve said this a million times, but that is why we watch them – because he is Prince Harry…he’s put her on the map.”
Explaining further, Mr Vickers added: “She was quite well known before she got involved with him. But she’s extremely well known as a result of having married Prince Harry. That’s what it’s all about.”
In the video, after Harry’s brief appearance, Meghan takes the camera to share: “Cat is out of the bag. I’m shocked we’ve kept it a secret for so long.”
Sharing that her business is, like her new Netflix show, launching in two weeks time, she added that her brand has also changed name.
Speaking further, Meghan added: “Which there’s been a lot of curiosity about. Last year, I thought you know what, American Riviera, that sounds like such a great name, it’s my neighbourhood [and] its a name for Santa Barbara.”
Explaining the name change from ‘American Riviera Orchard’ to ‘As Ever’, she continued: “But it limited me to things that were just manufactured and grown in this area.”
Annoucing that ‘As Ever’ is a name she “secured” in 2022, Meghan added: “This is the moment [for the announcement]. It’s called ‘As Ever’. ‘As Ever’ essentially means ‘as it’s always been’.”
