Meghan Markle did not fit in when she first joined the Royal Family because she thought it would be all “sparkly and fun” like being a Disney princess but it was far different from that, it has been claimed. The Duchess of Sussex married into the Firm in 2018, but her royal tenure was short as she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior working royals in 2020.
This week, former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for the Royal Family for seven years and recently released his book The Royal Butler, alleged that the Duchess thought life within the Firm would be like a Disney film and that she would want things that were against protocol. He told Page Six, “She would rather have lunch with her friends, thinking that was fine, and it wasn’t,” adding that the royals’ schedule is set six months in advance.
“I think the problem with Meghan is that she went into the organisation and she assumed that after watching all the Disney princesses, that she thought it was going to be like that.
“When you join the Royal Family, you are given rules and protocols to follow.”
Meanwhile, royal commentator Helena Chard said royal life was vastly different from Meghan’s.
She told Fox News: “Meghan obviously met her prince, and I imagine she did feel that being a princess would be sparkly and fun, but Meghan is very much somebody who likes to be centre stage.
“She just wants to do things that she wants to do. And life as a working royal isn’t all sparkly.”
But Ms Chard dismissed any chances of a royal reconciliation soon, despite Prince Harry’s meeting with the King this week, saying that there has been a lot of “upset” over the years.
She said: “King Charles loves his darling boy, Prince Harry,” Chard tells Fox News Digital.
There are consequences for his behavior, and there’s an awful lot of drama always surrounding him.
“There’s a lot of upset. There’s a lot of throwing [the royals] under the bridge or under the train, but there doesn’t seem to be an awful lot of apologies coming from Prince Harry, and it makes it very hard.”
