Nintendo has announced plans to make another Gamecube title available for the Switch 2 Online + Expansion Pack service.
An interesting pick for the library, Gamecube cult classic Chibi-Robo has been given an August 21 release date for Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
The game originally launched for the Gamecube back in 2006, and has become something of a collectible in the years since release. It typically sells for a couple of hundred pounds in the UK, with mint copies currently listed for £310 at stores like CEX.
Fortunately you don’t need hundreds of pounds to enjoy the game on Nintendo Switch 2, just an Expansion Pack subscription.
The somewhat surreal game tasks players with completing household chores like cleaning spills and finding lost items.
“Chibi-Robo is a four-inch-tall robot who’s arrived at the Sanderson house with the goal of helping the family get the most out of life and find happiness,” reads the official description.
“Day or night, he’ll help however he can, whether that’s by cleaning or looking for lost items.
“In this chibi action-adventure title originally released for the Nintendo GameCube system in 2006, you’ll aim for the top of the Chibi-Rankings by gathering Happy Points and Moolah (aka money)! It’s rumoured that Chibi-Robo will become Super Chibi-Robo if he reaches the top of the rankings.”
The only bad news is that there’s no way to purchase the game individually, as it’s only available with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
As a reminder, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack costs £34.99 for an annual membership, or £59.99 as part of a Family membership.
As part of the subscription, members can play Gamecube titles such as Wind Waker, F-Zero GX and Soulcalibur 2.
That’s on top of N64 titles like Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64 and Sin and Punishment on N64, as well as Zelda Ocarina of Time and Mario Tennis.
SEGA Mega Drive games are also playable with the Expansion Pack tier, alongside Game Boy Advance titles.
Mega Drive games include well known classics like Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes, as well as cult favourites such as Crusader of Centy (Soleil), Musha, Pulseman and Alisia Dragoon.
Then there are the Game Boy Advance releases, which include everything from Zelda: The Minish Cap and Metroid Fusion, to Kuru Kuru Kururin and the Japanese version of F-Zero Climax.
