Masked thieves stole tens of thousands of pounds of designer handbags and watches in a pre-Christmas heist on well-known QVC host Evey Amery.
The shopping channel favourite who runs Eveyspreloved selling rare Chanel, Hermes and Dior bags costing thousands apiece has issued a warning to those who might be offered cut-price luxury goods.
Mother-of-three Evey, 57, a regular on TV since 2012, said: “Two men broke into the alarmed premises where I have my showroom and then broke into the showroom itself which was also alarmed. They were captured on CCTV stealing dozens and dozens of luxury designer bags and watches.
“Some were rare and vintage of high value and taken in a targeted attack. I am determined to do everything that I can to recover the items and raise awareness to unknowing buyers.”
Brighton-born TV presenter and stylist Evey’s online retail business was set up in 2021 and sells nearly-new goods, a market that has exploded in popularity.
The men raided her north London premises shortly before midnight on December 3 in a swoop that cleaned her out of stock. It has left thousands of customers out of pocket.
There are now fears the stolen haul – estimated at more £100,000 – will be offered for bargain basement prices on illegitimate websites and hawked by cash-in-hand sellers as the gang races to get rid of in-demand accessories in the run-up to Christmas.
Evey said: “I don’t have a physical retail business so this feels especially hard as I have clearly been targeted. I want nothing more than to quickly recover my stock and reassure my clients I will take every possible avenue to do so.
“I am urging my colleagues with businesses like mine to be aware and alert, report anything suspicious at this time and also for anyone buying Preloved at this time to be very cautious if they recognise any items.
“I need to make aware to the public that these goods that may be circulating as I write are stolen and I have to continue and crack on as I won’t give in to what has happened.”
