Queen Letizia's chronic illness that has forced her to make major change to her style

Queen Letizia of Spain has noticeably had to make one major change to her style due to a crippling medical condition.

The Spanish royal is often seen in an array of chic outfits, but fans couldn’t help but notice that she is no longer wearing high heels.

In a picture posted on the Instagram account @royalfashionpolice, the Spanish Queen was seen on a visit to the headquarters of the Association for the Prevention, Reintegration and Care of Prostituted Women on January 9.

According to the page, the royal wore a black coat by Carolina Herrera paired with black cropped flared trousers and a tweed jacket which was created by women victims of trafficking of APRAMP.

In addition to the chic look, the Spanish Queen was seen wearing black patent leather shoes by Adeba for the occasion.

Taking to the recent post, one fan wrote: “I noticed that Queen Letizia now only wears low heel shoes, she hardly wears high heels now, also why?”

In response, the owner of the account wrote: “Letizia is often seen wearing lower heels these days because it’s reported by Spanish media that she has persistent pain in the ball of both feet due to chronic metatarsalgia.

“Additionally, she has Morton’s neuroma in her right foot, characterised by thickened tissue around a nerve leading to the toes.”

It has been reported that Queen Letizia suffers from chronic metatarsalgia – pain in the ball of the foot – in both of her feet.

She also has Morton’s neuroma in her right foot, which involves a thickening of the tissue around one of the nerves leading to the toes.

The condition causes a sharp burning pain in the ball of your feet – and sometimes numbing – and resembles a pain that is often felt after wearing heels for an extended period of time.

Other fans, all of whom noticed the style change, praised Queen Letizia’s look.

One fan wrote: “Love love the shoes!”

Another fan wrote: “The shoes and the length of her trousers are just perfect. And what a fantastic organisation to support!”

Clearly inspired by the royal, another fan commented: “Love the shoes! I can’t wear anything higher than around 1/2 inch since joint fusion in my feet so it’s great to see good, relatively flat shoes that don’t kill feet.”

A fourth fan wrote: “Love the outfit, particularly the shoes (wonderfully elegant) and the coat.”
