Queen Camilla's clever 'secret' message to public through latest style choice

The royal donned Queen Mary’s diamond and emerald Celtic Knot Brooch that’s also been worn several times by the late Queen Elizabeth.

And according to jewellery experts, its shape has a secret meaning behind it.

They claimed that since Celtic knots are known to symbolise strength, balance and harmony, it was an “incredibly apt choice for the Queen” to wear it for her first engagement since the King’s cancer diagnosis as she prepares to step up and carry out more royal duties.

The special brooch is estimated to be worth £80,000 ($100,000) and features lines of diamonds in the shape of a traditional Celtic knot intertwining around an emerald, which appears to be a cabochon stone – a gemstone that has been shaped and polished, as opposed to faceted.

Dating back to 1893, the brooch originally belonged to Queen Mary and is said to have been one of her wedding gifts.

Queen Elizabeth inherited most of her grandmother’s jewellery, including the brooch which she notably wore at a State Banquet for the President of Ireland in 2014.

Zack Stone, of Steven Stone, said: “It’s heart-warming to see that Queen Camilla wore Queen Elizabeth II’s emerald and diamond Celtic knot brooch when she attended a concert in Salisbury yesterday – dating back to 1893, it’s a historic piece that was previously worn by Queen Mary. Though there aren’t many documented appearances of the brooch, Queen Elizabeth II notably wore it at a State Banquet for the President of Ireland in 2014.

“The design of a traditional Celtic knot is echoed in the brooch by lines of diamonds intertwining around a central emerald that appears to be a cabochon stone – one of the oldest and most coveted gemstones, used since ancient times.

“Celtic knots are known to symbolise strength, balance and harmony – making it an incredibly apt choice for the Queen as not only was the concert her first royal engagement since King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, but she’s expected to undertake the majority of engagements while he seeks treatment.

“I’d estimate a piece like this to retail at approximately £80,000 ($100,000)”.

Meanwhile, royal fans have gone into a frenzy over Camilla’s latest outfit.

One user wrote on X: “She looks lovely, I love her coat and wish I could see the dress. The brooch is stunning! What wonderful history!”, while another one added: “QC and all the royal women actually, wear the nicest coats. Good cuts, colors and beautifully fitted. Add a brooch, you’ve got the look. Fabulous!!(sic)”

A third one commented: “I love her outfit and the brooch.”
