Queen Camilla wears Cartier diamond brooches with sentimental meaning at memorial

Queen Camilla donned two gorgeous Cartier diamond brooches at a memorial service in Windsor today – each with sentimental meaning behind them.

The senior royal stepped out in King Charles’s absence, leading members of the British Royal Family at the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece. The Greek monarch died aged 82 last January.

Looking as elegant as ever in a navy pinstriped suit, Camilla sported two Greville Ivy Leaf Clips.

The first brooch was made for the Hon Mrs Greville by Cartier in 1930. The second clip, which is identical to the first, was commissioned in 1937.

Speaking of the brooches, Maxwell Stone from Steven Stone said: “Queen Camilla adorned herself with the timeless Greville Ivy Leaf Clips, each embellished with a central brilliant diamond and pavé-set Ivy Leaves in platinum. Originating from Cartier, the first brooch was crafted for the Hon Mrs Greville in 1930 and found its companion in an identical clip that was commissioned in 1937.

Discussing the meaning behind each one, the expert added: “A poignant history unfolds as King George VI and Queen Elizabeth presented these brooches to Queen Elizabeth II on her 21st Birthday, who wore them 75 years later for her Platinum Jubilee.”

The expert continued: “It carries deep significance that Queen Camilla chose to adorn herself with Queen Elizabeth II’s enduring brooches while leading a service, mirroring the late monarch’s years of leadership over the country.

“Carrying not just monetary worth but a rich tapestry of history and homage.”

They added that the brooches would be estimated to be around £31,000 each.

Camilla’s outfit also caught the eye of many royal watchers, with many commenting on @royalfashionpolice’s latest Instagram post.

One fan wrote: “One of Camilla’s nicest suits. She looks really elegant.”

Another fan commented: “I love this pinstriped ensemble on her. She looks great.”

Speaking on the Queen’s hat choice, another fan wrote: “Give it to Camilla, she has the most amazing hat collection.”

Prince William was set to join Camilla at the memorial service in Windsor today, however, he ended up not attending.

The Prince of Wales pulled out of the memorial service due to “personal reasons”.

Royals such as Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson and Zara Tindall attended alongside Queen Camilla.
