Queen Camilla just mastered autumn chic in her best look to date | Royal | News

Tartan is emerging as one of the defining trends for AW25, and Queen Camilla has demonstrated how to wear it with effortless sophistication. Attending Sunday’s church service at Crathie Kirk, near Balmoral, alongside King Charles, the Queen embraced the heritage print in a way that felt both regal and refreshingly current.

The 77-year-old royal re-wore a tailored ensemble by British designer Roy Allen, featuring a rich red tartan skirt paired with a fitted green jacket edged in matching check. The look struck a chic balance between classic tradition and modern autumn styling, proving tartan can be both elegant and versatile.

With the print dominating international runways and set to take centre stage at London Fashion Week next week, Camilla’s choice couldn’t be more on trend.

By showcasing tartan in her Sunday wardrobe, Queen Camilla demonstrated how seamlessly she can align royal dressing with the season’s biggest trends.

Her ensemble fused Scottish heritage with contemporary tailoring, underlining her commitment to sustainable fashion and British craftsmanship.

In doing so, she illustrated how royals can honour tradition while still setting the pace for modern style.

She completed the ensemble with a taupe crossbody handbag and coordinating pumps, adding polish through tonal accessories.

A feather-trimmed Philip Treacy hat brought drama and height, while an antique 1890s enamel and diamond brooch introduced a touch of history. Layered with her signature Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery, the styling blended old-world elegance with contemporary luxury.

What truly distinguished the look, however, was Camilla’s ability to fuse heritage with sustainability – a principle increasingly central to royal fashion and strongly championed by Princess Kate.

By reaching for tartan again, Camilla taps into one of the strongest print trends of the season, proving heritage can feel contemporary.

The structured tailoring of her jacket gives the outfit definition, while the rich red check adds depth and vibrancy to her autumn palette.

Together, the look demonstrates how classic motifs can be reimagined for 2025 in a way that feels both polished and fashion-forward.
