PS5 Pro Disc Drive back in stock at new £70 price point

Whether it’s the PlayStation Plus price increases in various parts of the world, or PS5 console price hikes in the UK and Europe, PlayStation fans haven’t had too much to cheer as of late.

There was one piece of good news, however, as Sony confirmed that the cost of the PS5 Disc Drive attachment has been reduced from £100 to £70.

The new prices have now come into play, meaning PlayStation Direct customers can grab the Disc Drive attachment for £69.99 while stocks last.

The PS Pro Disc Drive attachment easily fits to your console with a just a few quick steps.

Making sure you’ve unplugged everything, simply remove the faceplate and attach the disc drive by lining up the two clips.

The Disc Drive comes with its own cover, which you attach to the console in place of the original faceplate.

Once it’s attached, you can play DVDs, Blu-Rays and PS4/PS5 games on the PlayStation 5 Pro and PS5 Digital Edition.

The PS5 Disc Drive doesn’t appear to be in stock anywhere other than the PlayStation Direct website at the time of writing, so you may have to hurry and make the purchase before they sell out.

It’s worth noting that PS5 Disc Drives are limited to one per customer, which should hopefully discourage scalpers.

It’s been a busy week for Sony, beginning with the company announcing plans to increase the price of PS Plus subscriptions in Latin American countries and Southeast Asia.

The company followed this up by the annoouncement that the PS5 Digital will now cost £429.99 in the UK.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony is increasing the prices due to high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates.

“With a backdrop of a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, SIE has made the tough decision to raise the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PlayStation 5 console in select markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Australia and New Zealand,” the post reads.

Despite the price increase, Argos customers can still pick up the PS5 Digital Edition console for £389.99.
