PS5 horror fans can pick up Silent Hill f for only £44 in time for Halloween

October is here, which means it’s time to get out the pumpkins, scary skeletons and Halloween treats as autumn approaches. It’s also time to jump on the scary movies or games, depending on the mood. In time for spooky season, the newest Silent Hill has been released, and we have a way to cut the price.

Silent Hill f is a 1960s-set survival horror game in which players control high school student Hinako Shimizu in the remote Japanese town of Ebisugaoka. When a mysterious fog descends, the town transforms into a nightmare landscape filled with grotesque monsters, forcing Hinako to solve puzzles and fight to survive. You can read more from our Gaming Editor here.

And for those that don’t want to pay the huge £59.99 price tag for the game, we have found a great deal to get the game for £44. Thanks to TopCashback, those who sign up with a new email can get £15 off their first purchase, including cashback when they buy from Argos.

Here’s a quick rundown of how to get the deal:

  • Sign up for Top Cashback via this link
  • Search for Argos as the retailer on Top Cashback and choose “Get Cashback”
  • That will take buyers through to Argos, where Silent Hill f can be pre-ordered as normal
  • The cash will be deposited in shoppers Top Cashback accounts a couple of days later

For new members of TopCashback, they’ll pay £44.21 by the time the cashback reaches their account. Shoppers will see cashback appear within seven days of making the purchase. Those who are already members of TopCashback will get it (after cashback) for £44.47.

According to Metacritic, the game is at an 85 out of 100 with generally favourable reviews. Destructoid reviewed the game and said: “Psychological action horror at its finest. A new kind of Silent Hill that holds onto its roots and never falters. Experimental like SH4: The Room, f stands out by giving us something vastly different while sticking to and modernising the fundamentals. Silent Hill f gets in your face, making it impossible to look away from Hinako’s story.”

GameSpot reviewed the game and said: “Silent Hill f is not just a return to form, it’s a remarkable evolution; it’s a visual spectacle, a mastercraft in psychological horror, a work of narrative brilliance, and a new benchmark for the Silent Hill series.

GameSpot did note their problems, however, and added: “That said, it’s not perfect. At times, I felt enemies were not quite as responsive to my attacks as I wished and lacked proper feedback. Other times, I found myself a bit frustrated by how the game’s tight corridors, quickly depleting stamina bar and imperfect controls created situations where I was unable to do anything as an enemy continuously wailed on me.”
