PS Plus subscribers running out of time to redeem 2024 game of the year contender

Sony is getting ready to release a new batch of PlayStation Plus Essentials for June 2025.

The next wave of PS Plus games will be available to download and play from June 3. While the launch of new PS Plus games is always a good thing, it does mean subscribers are running out of time to grab the current line-up, which leave the service on June 3.

Games leaving PS Plus on June 3 include an absolute masterpiece and 2024 game of the year contender in Balatro. If you haven’t already, you should absolutely pick up Balatro as a matter of priority.

Playable on PS4 and PS5, Balatro is a roguelike twist on the game of Poker, featuring various modifiers that result in huge scores.

The game sees players attempt to beat a target score by playing classic poker hands like flushes, full houses etc.

With scores increasing after every game, you’ll need to pick up booster cards and modifiers that can multiply your score and money earned.

This includes Joker cards with special properties. One Joker may give you an extra card at the start of the round, while another will let you discard additional cards when building your hand.

Other Joker Cards will make cards of a specific suit earn bigger scores whenever they’re played, while further cards might make face cards more valuable, or give you more money at the end of a round.

An incredibly addictive game with lots of depth, Balatro has an average score of 90% on Metacritic and an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam.

What’s even more remarkable is that it was made by just one person.

Other games leaving PS Plus on June 3 include Ark: Survival Ascended and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun.

Ark Survival Ascended is a survival game set in a dangerous world of dinosaurs and technology.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, on the other hand, is a first-person shooter with an old-school art style.

Sony explains more: “Experience a perfect blend of Warhammer 40,000, classic, frenetic FPS gameplay and the stylish visuals of your favourite 90’s retro shooters.

“Play a battle-hardened Space Marine on a perilous mission across the galaxy, as they battle against the Chaos Space Marines and daemons of Chaos.

“In glorious boomer shooter style, unleash your devastating Space Marine arsenal as you blast through an explosion of sprites, pixels and blood. Run, jump and charge across huge levels to shoot, shred and slice the worst heretics across the galaxy!”
