PS Plus free PS4 and PS5 games for September 2025 reveal date, time and predictions

PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down to the reveal of the free PS4 and PS5 games for September 2025.

The next wave of PS Plus Essentials will be officially announced by Sony at 4.30pm BST UK time on the afternoon of August 27. Subscribers will be able to download and install the games from September 2.

Fans will be hoping for another strong line-up, following last month’s headliner of Lies of P and Diablo 4 in July.

If the latest predictions are anything to go by, then the September PlayStation Plus line-up could be a good one.

After a sequel was announced during the recent Gamescom Opening Night Live event, fans are convinced that Lords of the Fallen will be added to PS Plus.

Released in 2023, Lords of the Fallen vastly improves on its predecessor, and even adds a few new ideas to the Soulslike formula. The game lets players switch between two worlds, which is important for overcoming obstacles and solving puzzles.

Needless to say, Resident Evil games have also been predicted to appear, particularly Resident Evil Village.

In terms of first-party games, there are picks for Lego Horizon Adventures, Stellar Blade and The Order 1886, which always seems to make an appearance.

Ubisoft releases like Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, The Crew Motorfest and Star Wars Outlaws also appear multiple times.

With the next wave of PS Plus games launching soon, fans only have a few days left to redeem the current batch of Essentials.

The August 2025 line-up is headlined by the superb Lies of P, which is a Soulslike that draws inspiration from Bloodborne and Pinocchio.

“In this grim reimagining of Carlo Collodi’s treasured tale, Pinocchio is trying to find the mysterious Mr. Geppetto,” reads the official description.

“His journey takes him to Krat, a Belle Époque-inspired city whose humanity has been lost to madness and killer puppets. Pinocchio must battle for survival using a range of weapons and swappable Legion Arms with special abilities.

“He will also encounter non-hostile characters, but you will have to help him lie to fulfil his dream of becoming human.”

Subscribers can also pick up survival game Day Z, as well as 3D brawler My Hero One’s Justice 2.
