The next batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium games are about to be released by Sony.
A grand total of nine PS4 and PS5 games will join the PlayStation Plus Extra line-up, while an additional two retro games will be available for Premium subscribers. That’s alongside a new Game Trial for one of this year’s biggest new releases.
Headlined by Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Mortal Kombat 1, the new PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games have been given an August 19 release date by Sony.
Mortal Kombat 1 takes place in a kind of new reailty created by the Fire God Liu Kang.
It features returning characters such as Johnny Cage, Shang Tsung, Raiden, Reptile and Scorpion, as well as guest characters available by purchasing DLC, including Homelander from The Boys and Ghostface from Scream.
Needless to say, it also features the series’ signature Fatality finishing moves, not to mention the return of Animalities.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, meanwhile, is an upgraded version of the PS4 superhero game developed by Insomniac Games.
It features improved visuals and enhanced controls, alongside all of the post-release DLC from the original.
Other games joining PS Plus Extra in August include Sword of the Sea, Earth Defense Force 6, Atelier Ryza 3 Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, Unicorn Overlord, Indika, Harold Halibut and Coral Island.
As for PS Plus Premium, the service will add survival horror classics Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 Nemesis on August 19.
Premium subscribers will also be able to check out 5-hours of gameplay from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as part of the Game Trial scheme.
Unfortunately, however, it’s not all good news, because multiple games will be leaving PS Plus Extra this week.
This includes heavy-hitters such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Star Wars Jedi Survivor.
Other games leaving include Wild Hearts, RIDE 5, Bugsnax, Vacation Simulator, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection, Sword Art Online: Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, Sword Art Online: Lost Song, Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization and Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker.
EA Sports UFC 5 and Top Spin 2K25 will also be removed in select regions.
