Prisoner found naked after scaling maximum security fences to reach girlfriend's cell

A male prisoner scaled two fences at a maximum security prison to see his female lover who was held in the same jail.

The man was found naked in her cell at the Clarence Correctional Centre in Australia on Saturday after attempting an end-of-year tryst.

The prison in Grafton in northern New South Wales is privately run and has a maximum and minimum security facility for male and female offenders with 1,700 beds.

The male inmate climbed two fences and crossed an exercise yard to make his way into his partner’s cell, Daily Mail Australia reported.

The pair barricaded themselves inside the cell, and it wasn’t until correctional officers utilized a chemical agent that they successfully removed the male prisoner from the situation.

The prisoner was naked and one source described his state as ‘ready to go’.

A spokeswoman for Clarence Correctional Centre, run by UK-based Serco, said staff had responded to an incident in which two inmates attempted to prevent entry into a cell.

The spokeswoman told the Daily Mail: “A tactical plan was executed promptly with chemical agent deployed.

“Responding officers safely secured the inmates. No staff or inmates were injured during the incident.

“The inmates involved – one male and one female – are known to be in a relationship.

“An investigation into the incident has commenced.”
