Princess Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith gives five-word health update about his niece

Gary Goldsmith has given a five-word update on the current health of his niece, Kate, the Princess of Wales.

The 58-year-old businessman – who is Carole Middleton’s younger brother – is currently one of the housemates in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother.

In a simple update, Gary has said that Princess Kate is getting the “best care in the world” as he gets quizzed by a fellow housemate on where his niece is. Despite this, he declined to give any further information on his niece due to a “code of etiquette”.

In footage shown on Wednesday night’s show, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu asked Gary: “Where’s Kate?”

To which, he replied: “Because she doesn’t want to talk about… The last thing I’m going to do is… there’s a kind of code of etiquette. If it’s announced, I’ll give you an opinion.”

He then added: “I spoke to her mum, my sister, she’s getting the best care in the world.

“And all the family’s done is put the wagons round and look after family first before anything else. They put a statement out and just said ‘she’s taking some time to recoup and will see you in Easter’.”

After being asked if he wants to see her make a return to royal duties, Gary added: “She’ll be back, of course she will.”

The Princess of Wales underwent planned abdominal surgery back on January 16, with a statement released to the public the following day stating that it was “successful”.

The same statement shared that the 42-year-old would be taking time away from royal duties until at least “after Easter” and has asked for her medical information to remain private.

Princess Kate remained in hospital for 13 days and was discharged on January 29.

She then travelled home to Windsor to be reunited with Prince William – who had made various visits to see her at The London Clinic – and their three children.

With various amounts of speculation mounting on social meda regarding Kate’s extensive time away from duty, royal aides were forced to respond earlier this week.

Royal aides hit out at the “madness of social media” and stated that the Princess of Wales “has a right to privacy”.

They added that they hope the public can “respect” the royal’s wishes.
